5 Stars Great batteries, but get the right charger for your needs!
I’ve been using Eneloops for about a year now, and I haven’t bought any other batteries since (I was a diehard Duracell user), other than 9v ones. I bought two of the big kits with the C+D adapters, 8 AAs and 4 AAAs, along with the FOUR-battery chargers.
After a year of floundering along with the 110/240 4-batt chargers, I bought one of the rapid 2-battery chargers, and will probably put the original two back in their boxes to languish forever.
See, if you actually NEED to charge four batteries at once, the originals are good. However, they take TEN hours to recharge 2 or 4 AAs. If you check into a hotel and plug it in on arrival (you’d better check in early), you might be able to take pictures the next day, unless you forget to pack it when leaving the next morning. The chargers are good worldwide, but they just take too long. The 2-battery rapid charger is also good worldwide, and takes only 4 hours for 2 AAs, and 2 hours, 15 minutes for 2 AAAs. You can plug it in upon arrival and make sure you pack the charger before you even go to bed!
I actually had to return to three hotels for my charger when I forgot to pack it in the wee hours of very early checkouts.
Now I see the rapid charger is available with a set of batteries and adapters. New to Eneloop? I’d recommend getting that set, not the 4-battery charger deluxe set. Even if you need 4 batteries charged, doing them twice on the rapid charger would end up faster than the single charger, and the rapid charger is smaller.
Eneloops may be pricey, but you will never regret the purchase. Flashlights, noise-canceling headphones, cameras, travel alarms, even a battery toothbrush will work with these, and many more items as well.
I bought mine direct from Amazon - it’s only one paperback book more for free shipping, and it only took 9 days from order to using. Marketplace sellers might be cheaper on the unit, but the shipping costs more. Just my 2 cents’ worth.
Buh-bye, Duracell!
4 Stars Great batteries, hoped for charger mentioned in details
The Sanyo Eneloop 4 Pack AA with Charger is a great buy. What’s better is after opening, just pop into your electronics and away you go (batteries are precharged). Only downfall was that the details said that it was a different charger where you can charge one battery at a time. The charger that came with this, you have to charge in pairs. Luckily my remote, wii peripherals, etc. all use paired batteries.
5 Stars Longevity makes up for capacity.
I use AA batteries in off-camera hot-shoe flashes when I shoot weddings/receptions. I first tried some standard 2500mAh NiMH because they had more capacity. Even if I charged them just a few days before a wedding shoot they seemed to loose any extra charge capacity they had by the day of the wedding. I had many spare packs but it seemed like I was changing out batteries excessively. I was a little skeptical of the Eneloops because they have a capacity of only 2000mAh which is certainly not terrible but less power than my 2500mAh batteries (at least in theory and according to their label). After shooting a reception with Eneloop batteries I am sold. I only had to change batteries once and that was with flash power set to full or
